Issue: Comprehensive, large-scale monitoring information on Great River
Ecosystems is vital and often missing and therefore assessments of aquatic
resources associated with the Great Rivers are limited.

Resource Definition:

Draft Criteria: Catchments>10K sq mi and Discharge >25K cfs

Draft Map of 11 Great Rivers in lower 48
-
A set of draft domains have been constructed that include three or four
geomorphic-based reporting units in each river system.
Initial Questions:

Emphasis on status and trends in ecological condition

Role and information provided by Design-based approaches

Role and information provided by Model-based approaches
Role and Assistance of the Design Team:

Aid in refinement of information for addressing the steps in design process
(Resource Characteristics, Monitoring Objectives, Institutional Constraints,
Sample Frame, Design Requirements and Survey Design)

Participation in monitoring design and analysis pilot(s)

Potential integration of existing monitoring information and programs
