Solar Panels to Power Cleanup at one of the Most Toxic Sites in U.S.

At today’s event in Davis California, U.S. EPA Regional Administrator Jared Blumenfeld and U.S. Congressman Mike Thompson joined Linda Adams, Secretary of Cal EPA along with key local partners to reveal details about how EPA has infused a “green” foundation into much needed infrastructure improvements at the site while simultaneously speeding the cleanup remedy by more than 100 years.

EPA's first groundwater treatment completely powered by solar is located in Davis, California. The expanded solar panel system, paid with Recovery Act funds, was installed by a small, local business. Thanks to innovative technology recently installed at the site which will be discussed at the press conference, the cleanup will be completed more than 150 years sooner than originally planned.
