Specifications and Installation of the compost BMPs
Several groups have developed specifications for using the compost BMPs. Before using these BMPs check with your local stormwater permitting authority.
- Landscape Architecture/Design Specifications for Compost Use (PDF) (14pp, 251K). This document from the US Composting Council provides information about how to use compost in several types of installations. Information about materials, product parameters, and construction requirements among other topics is provided.
- Erosion control specifications that incorporate the American Association of State Highway & Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Provisional Standards Manual.
- Whole Building Design Guide Federal Green Construction Guide for Specifiers
is a guidance document with sample specification language intended to be inserted into project specifications on this subject as appropriate to the agency's environmental goals. Certain provisions, where indicated, are required for U.S. federal agency projects.
