Equipment Loan Program for Volunteer Water Monitoring

Photo of a PH meter.

EPA New England established a loan program in 2006 to provide equipment to new and existing volunteer water quality monitoring groups to generate well-documented physical, chemical and biological data for use in assessing conditions of the Region's waters. The equipment loan program is open to all volunteer monitoring groups in New England, including those coordinated by states, tribes, municipalities, universities and other organizations. EPA expects loan recipients to generate data useable by states for assessments, have an EPA or State approved quality assurance project plan (QAPP), receive concurrence from their State about the usability of their data, and upload data meeting data quality objectives to EPA's national water quality data base. The announcement for each round of applications is placed on the web site each Spring, and provides detailed information on conditions of the loans.
