Public Meeting to Discuss Off-Site Sampling Results, Carter Carburetor Superfund Site, St. Louis, Missouri

INTRODUCTION

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 7 will host a public meeting to share results from off-site sampling conducted near the Carter Carburetor Site.

PURPOSE OF THE MEETING

Sampling results will be provided to each respective property owner prior to the meeting. Attendees at the meeting will hear an overall summary report of the sampling results.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The Carter Carburetor Superfund Site is located at 2800 to 2840 North Spring Street in St. Louis. EPA collected access agreements from property owners living within a one-block radius of the site on April 28 and 29, 2011. The off-site sampling was conducted during the week of May 2, 2011. The off-site sampling efforts focused on three main areas: surface soil sampling, sediment sampling, and vapor intrusion air sampling. Off-site sampling was conducted at the community's request to determine if contamination may have moved off-site.
