EPA Announces First Roundtable Discussion, Carter Carburetor Superfund Site, St. Louis, Missouri

INTRODUCTION

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 7 invites members of the Carter Carburetor neighborhood, area stakeholders and other interested parties to the first roundtable discussion.

THE ROUNDTABLE

The Carter Carburetor Roundtable will be a gathering of people to discuss the ongoing cleanup actions at the Carter Carburetor Site and EPA involvement in the neighborhood. It will meet monthly on the second Tuesday or Thursday of every month or as needed. All are welcome to attend.

KEY COMPONENTS

  1. EPA will call the roundtable together each month during the cleanup process.
  2. EPA will facilitate the roundtable process and handle its key logistics from month to month, including communications, public notice, and facilitation/note taking tasks.
  3. Members of the immediate neighborhood will help identify and host various meeting places in the neighborhood which will serve as “round robin” locations for the monthly discussions.

MISSION OF THE ROUNDTABLE

The Carter Carburetor Roundtable is focused on the cleanup of the Carter Carburetor Site. It is an open and inclusive forum, held in the site neighborhood on a regular basis. It is a body that will focus on teamwork, better communications, building trust, and ensuring that the community, stakeholders, interested parties, and EPA staff are mutually informed and educated on site cleanup and its impacts on the neighborhood and larger community.
