What's New
This page contains information on specific project developments and updated tools and documents for facilitating the XL process. This page will be updated as new information becomes available.- EPA launched Project XL in response to the March 16, 1995 report Reinventing Environmental Regulation, that outlined EPA's participation in the government-wide National Performance Review regulatory reinvention initiative. At the outset, EPA set a goal of implementing 50 pilots under Project XL. In January 2001, EPA signed the 50th XL Final Project Agreement setting the stage to fulfill a wide variety of commitments to superior environmental protection made by industry, local governments and communities. EPA will continue to fulfill each of its commitments under Project XL and will track and monitor the progress of each XL pilot for the duration of the project. Current information on all XL projects can be found at: https://www.epa.gov/projectxl/explorxl.htm.
