In the year 2000, International Paper along with the US Environmental Protection Agency, the Maine Department of Environmental Protection, and the Town of Jay, Maine were joint signatories to a Final Project Agreement that established a Project XL innovative pilot project, International Paper - Effluent Improvement. The outcome of that project was described in a final project report (PDF 127 pages; 613K) issued in September 2005. The Final Project Agreement for this project expired in 2004 and it is now officially closed.
