Listing of Possible Decision-Making Criteria

Possible decision-making criteria include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Availability and effectiveness of non-OP alternatives.
• Toxicity relative to other OPs and non-OP alternatives.
• Worker exposure/risk relative to other OPs and non-OP alternatives.
• Ecological exposure/risk relative to other OPs and non-OP alternatives.
• Systemic (taken up/absorbed by the plant) or non-systemic.
• Resistance issues with non-OP alternatives.
• Societal value.
• Value to Integrated Pest Management Program(s) (IPM).
• Necessity for ensuring public health (e.g., vector control).
• Necessary to support a minor use crop.
• Documented human health incidents.
• Documented avian incidents.
• Groundwater and/or surface water detections.
• Detectable residues at harvest and/or consumption.
• Priority for growers/users.
• High/low consumption food items.
• Importance to eradication programs.
• Overall risk picture for individual chemical.
