UPDATE BRIEFING PAPER #14

RESPONSE TO RECOMMENDATIONS FROM THE CHILDREN'S HEALTH PROTECTION ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Two items follow:

• A Federal Register notice published on February 3, 1999 (Federal Register Volume 64, Pages 5277-5284). It provides EPA's response to the recommendations of the Children's Health Protection Advisory Committee regarding evaluation of existing environmental standards.
  
• A letter OPP sent to stakeholders describing OPP's activities related to the recommendations from the Children's Health Protection Advisory Committee

The advisory committee's recommendations include reevaluation of pesticide tolerances for methyl parathion, dimethoate, and chlorpyrifos. EPA's response describes the risk assessment status for these chemicals and the process we are following to obtain comments, develop revised risk assessments, and determine risk management options, as developed in consultation with the Tolerance Reassessment Advisory Committee.
