Date Title

2004
4/02/04 Tolerance Exemption Established - This regulation establishes an exemption from the requirement of a tolerance for residues of the biochemical pesticide, 6-benzyladenine (6-BA), in or on pistachio, and amends the existing exemption for apple to expand the uses and increase the application rate. Valent BioSciences Corporation submitted a petition to EPA requesting an exemption from the requirement of a tolerance. This regulation eliminates the need to establish a maximum permissible level for residues of 6-BA.

2003
7/30/03 Petition for Tolerance Exemption - EPA has received a pesticide petition (PP 3F6586) from Valent BioSciences Corporation proposing to amend 40 CFR part 180 to establish an exemption from the requirement of a tolerance for the biochemical pesticide 6- benzyladenine (6-BA) in or on pistachio, and to amend the existing exemption (Sec. 180.1150) for apples to expand the uses and increase the application rate.
02/26/03 Experimental Use Permit Issued - EPA has issued 73049-EUP-2. to Valent BioSciences Corporation. This EUP allows the use of the biochemical plant regulator N6-benzyladenine on apple and pistachio to evaluate its efficacy for fruit thinning and sizing for apple and its mitigation of alternate-year bearing for pistachio. The program is authorized only in the States of California, Idaho, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. 02/05/03 Temporary Tolerance Exemption Established This regulation establishes a temporary exemption from the requirement of a tolerance for residues of the biochemical pesticide N6-benzyladenine on apples and pistachios when applied/used in accordance with the Experimental Use Permit 73049-EUP-2. Valent BioSciences Corporation submitted a petition to EPA requesting the temporary tolerance exemption. This regulation eliminates the need to establish a maximum permissible level for residues of 6-benzyladenine. The temporary tolerance exemption will expire on January 31, 2005.
