12/29/04 New Active Ingredient Approval

1. EPA issued a notice, published in the Federal Register of March 28, 2002, which announced that Thermo Trilogy Corporation of Columbia, MD had submitted an application to register the pesticide product, Olive Fly Attract and Kill (A&K) Target Device, an olive fly attractant (EPA File Symbol 70051-TA), containing 12.8% ammonium bicarbonate and 0.2% dioxaspiro-5,5)-undecane (Spiroketal). This product was not previously registered. The application was approved on June 10, 2004, as ``Olive Fly Attract and Kill (A&K) Target Device for Commercial Olives'' (EPA Reg. No. 70051-76) and ``Olive Fly Attract and Kill (A&K) Target Device for Ornamental Olives'' (EPA Reg. No. 70051-96) for control of olive flies in olive orchards.

11/19/03 New Active Ingredient Conditional Approval - EPA issued a notice, published in the Federal Register of March 28, 2002 (67 FR 1493) (FRL-6827-7), which announced that Thermo Trilogy Corporation (Certis USA), 9145 Guilford Road, Suite 175, Columbia, MD, 21046, had submitted an application to register the pesticide product Olive Fly Attract and Kill (A & K) Target Device containing two new active ingredients (EPA File Symbol 70051-TA). This product contained two new active ingredients; ammonium bicarbonate at 12.8% and the arthropod pheromone 1 ,7-dioxaspiro-(5 ,5) undecane (Spiroketal) at 0.2%. During the course of the review of the Section 3 application for Olive Fly Attract and Kill (A & K) Target Device (EPA File Symbol 70051-TA) the Agency determined that a separate registration for the technical grade of 1 ,7-dioxaspiro-(5,5) undecane was needed. The registrant then submitted a pesticide application (7/18/02) for a section three registration for the product Certis Technical Olive Fly Pheromone containing the active ingredient 1,7-dioxaspiro-(5,5) undecane at 97.6 percent. This new product was assigned EPA File Symbol 7005 1-TT. The receipt of this application was not published in the Federal Register. The application for Certis Technical Olive Fly Pheromone (EPA Registration Number 70051-77), was approved on September 16, 2003, for use in the manufacturing of end-use agricultural products for control of olive fly.

9/25/02 Petition for Tolerance Exemption - EPA has received a pesticide petition [2F6477] from Certis USA LLC 9145 Guild Road, Suite 175, Columbia, MD 21046, proposing to establish an exemption from the requirement of a tolerance for the biochemical pesticide ammonium bicarbonate.  The biochemical ammonium bicarbonate is proposed for use as an insect feeding attractant in the end use product olive fly attract and kill (A&K) target device. Ammonium bicarbonate acts as a feeding attractant to the olive fruit fly (Bactrocera oleae)
3/28/02 Application for New Active Ingredient - EPA received an application as follows to register a pesticide product containing active ingredients not included in any previously registered products.  File Symbol: 70051-TA. Applicant: Thermo Trilogy Corporation, 9145 Guilford Road, Suite 175, Columbia, MD, 21046. Product name: Olive Fly Attract and Kill (A and K) Target Device. Type of product: Pheromone/attractant. Active ingredients: Ammonium bicarbonate at 12.8% and 1,7-dioxaspiro-(5,5)-undecane (Spiroketal) at 0.2%. Proposed classification/Use: An attractant that is used in an attract and kill device that is used to attract and kill the Olive Fruit Fly in olive orchards.
