9/01/06 Time-limited Tolerance Established - This regulation establishes time-limited tolerances for residues of 2, 6-Diisopropylnaphthalene, resulting from post-harvest applications to potato, in or on fat (cattle, goat, hog, horse, and sheep) at 0.8 part per million (ppm); liver (cattle, goat, hog, horse, and sheep) at 0.3 ppm; meat (cattle, goat, hog, horse, and sheep) at 0.1 ppm; meat byproducts (cattle, goat, hog, horse, and sheep) at 0.1 ppm; milk at 0.1 ppm; potato at 2.0 ppm; and potato, wet peel at 6.0 ppm. Loveland Products, Inc. had requested permanent tolerances (in or on whole potato and potato peels at 2 and 6 ppm, respectively). The time-limited tolerances will expire on August 1, 2009.

12/09/05 Petition for Tolerance Amendment - EPA received pesticide petition PP 1F6338. Loveland Products, Inc. of Greeley, CO, proposes to amend the tolerances in 40 CFR 180.590 for residues of the biochemical pesticide 2,6-diisopropylnaphthalene (2,6-DIPN) in or on the food commodities whole potatoes at 2 parts per million (ppm) and potato peels at 6 ppm.

8/8/03 Tolerance Exemption Established - This regulation establishes a temporary tolerance of 0.5 parts per million (ppm) for 2,6-Diisopropylnaphthalene (2,6-DIPN) in or on potatoes, and 3 ppm in or on potato peels. Platte Chemical Company requested this tolerance under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA), as amended by the Food Quality Protection Act of 1996 (FQPA). The temporary tolerance will expire on May 31, 2006.

8/30/00 Petition for Temporary Tolerance Exemption (PP-8G05008) EPA has received a pesticide petition from Platte Chemical Company, Inc., Greely, CO to establish temporary exemption from the requirement of a tolerance for the biochemical pesticide 2, 6- diisopropylnaphthalene (2,6-DIPN). In the Federal Register of 9/22/99, EPA issued a rule establishing a temporary exemption from the requirement of a tolerance for residues of 2,6-DIPN. The temporary exemption from the requirement of a tolerance will expire on September 22, 2000. This request for temporary exemption from the requirement of a tolerance is associated with an experimental use permit ( 34704- EUP-13). 2,6-DIPN is a potato sprout inhibitor and the purpose of the experimental program is to test the efficacy of the active ingredient.
3/1/00 Experimental Use Permit Granted 34704-EUP-13. Issuance. Platte Chemical Company of Greeley, CO 80632. This experimental use permit allows the use of 5,000 pounds of the plant growth regulator 2,6-diisopropylnaphthalene on 300 million pounds of stored potatoes to inhibit sprouting. The program is authorized only in the States of Idaho, Maine, Minnesota, North Dakota, Oregon, Washington, and Wisconsin. The experimental use permit is effective from September 28, 1999 to September 28, 2000. A temporary tolerance has been established for residues of the active ingredient in or on stored potatoes.
