10/27/04 Objection to Tolerance Exemption Denied - By this order, EPA denies the objections filed by the Truth In Labeling Campaign (TLC) and additional citizens to a final rule issued June 21, 2001. That rule exempts from the requirement of a tolerance under section 408 of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA) use of L-glutamic acid (LGA) and gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA) on all food commodities when applied/used in accordance with good agricultural practices. EPA is denying the objections because the Agency has evaluated these products and believes them to meet the statutory requirement of reasonable certainty of no harm.

6/21/01 Exemption from the Requirement of a Tolerance - This regulation establishes exemptions from the requirement of a tolerance for residues of L-glutamic acid and gamma aminobutyric acid on all food commodities when applied/used in accordance with good agricultural practices. Emerald BioAgriculture Corporation of Lansing, MI submitted two petitions (7F4842 and 7F4843) to EPA (Notices published December 6, 2000) requesting exemptions from the requirement of a tolerance.
