Issuance of Experimental Use Permit Extension  - EPA has issued EUP: 524-EUP-91. Extension. Monsanto Company of St. Louis, MO. This EUP allows the use of 181.5 grams of the plant pesticide Bacillus thuringiensis Cry1Ac protein and the genetic material necessary for its production (vector PV-GMBT02) in soybean on 199.7 acres of soybean to evaluate the control of soybean looper, stem borer, and velvetbean caterpillar. The EUP is effective from May 1, 2001 to April 30, 2002. This permit is issued with the limitation that all treated crops will be destroyed or used for research purposes only.
3/7/01 Issuance of Experimental Use Permit Amendment  (524-EUP-91)  Monsanto Company of St. Louis, Mo.  The amendment allows the use of the plant-pesticide Bacillus thuringiensis Cry1Ac protein and the genetic material necessary for its production (vectors PV-GMBT01 and PV-GMBT02) in soybean. Notice of the original issuance of the EUP was published in the Federal Register on 6/22/00   Additional acreage under this amendment to the program is authorized only in Puerto Rico. This amendment is effective from January 5, 2001 to May 31, 2001.
2/14/01 Application for Experimental Use Permit Extension.  EPA has received an application from Monsanto Company of  St. Louis, MO, for an extension of their EUP (524-EUP-91) for Bacillus thuringiensis Cry1Ac protein and the genetic material necessary for its production (vectors PV-GMBT01 and PV-GMBT02) in soybean. Notice of the original issuance of this EUP was published in the Federal Register on 6/22/00

8/30/00 Experimental Use Permit Amendment (524-EUP-91) This notice announces receipt of an amendment to experimental use permit (EUP) for the Bacillus thuringiensis Cry1Ac protein and the genetic material for its production (vector PV-GMBT01 and vector PV-GMBT02) in soybean from Monsanto Company. Notice of the original issuance of this EUP was published in the Federal Register on June 22, 2000 [See below] The new program proposes to increase the acreage by 22.0 acres and adds test sites in Hawaii and Puerto Rico. All soybeans will be grown under containment procedures. Plant material and seed produced will be destroyed or used for experimental purposes only.
6/22/00 Experimental Use Permit Granted  524-EUP-91. Monsanto Company, St. Louis, MO  This experimental use permit allows the use of 60.7 grams of the insecticidal Bacillus thuringiensis Cry1Ac protein in seeds shipped containing the plant-pesticide (Bacillus thuringiensis Cry1Ac protein and the genetic material for its production (Vector PV-GMBT01 and Vector PV-GMBT02) in soybean) on 61.3 acres of soybean to evaluate the control of soybean looper, stem borer, and velvetbean caterpillar. The program is authorized only in the States of Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, and Tennessee. The experimental use permit is effective from May 25, 2000 to May 31, 2001. This permit is issued with the limitation that all treated crops will be destroyed or used for research purposes only.
2/9/00 Application for Experimental Use Permit.  On February 9, 2000 EPA published a Federal Register Notice of the receipt from Monsanto Co. of St. Louis MO. of Experimental Use Permit Application 524-EUP-OR requesting an experimental use permit (EUPs) for the Bacillus thuringiensis Cry1A(c) protein and the genetic material necessary for its production (Vector PV-GMBT01) in soybean.  The Agency has determined that these applications may be of regional and national significance. Therefore, in accordance with 40 CFR 172.11(a), the Agency is soliciting comments on these applications.
