            OMS Sets Second MOBILE6 Workshop Dates

The Emission Inventory Group, Assessment and Modeling Division,
Office of Mobile Sources has set the dates for the second MOBILE6
Workshop.  The workshop will be held on Wednesday October 1 and
Thursday October 2, 1997.  The location is the Auditorium in the
Morris Lawrence Building on the Washtenaw Community College
campus, about 5 miles from NVFEL and about 20 miles west of
Detroit Metro Airport.  This is the same location that was used
for the March 1997 MOBILE6 workshop.

At this point, we are unable to provide a detailed agenda, and
ask that recipients of this message understand that the agenda
will be determined by activities now occurring and how much we
are able to complete by that time.  We are sending this advance
notification of these dates, which are firm, to give stakeholders
(particularly those in State and local/regional governments) as
much lead time as possible to plan for travel.  Please do not
contact us at this time for more information, since the workshop
planning has not been completed.

A Federal Register notice announcing this workshop and containing
more details about the agenda will be published in mid to late
August.  As at the first workshop, we anticipate that the first
day (October 1) will be primarily focused on technical analyses,
issues, and aspects of the model; the second day (October 2) will
be more focused on user issues, including input data formats and
requirements and proposed changes to output information and
structure.  

Also as at the March workshop, the Nonroad Team is planning a
relatively short presentation on the status of the new Nonroad
Emission Inventory Model which will be on the second day (October
2).  Thus those parties whose interest is limited to nonroad
issues can plan accordingly.

We have been very pleased to date with the responses received
from the first workshop, and plan to handle this one similarly in
several ways.  We will be posting materials as they are readied
on the OMS website (http://www.epa.gov/omswww/models.htm).

MOBILE6 and nonroad models, and we hope that you may be able to
attend this workshop.
