2004 State Innovation Grants Competition Results

EPA Deputy Administrator Steve Johnson announced the results of the 2004 State Innovation Grants Competition at the 2004 Spring meeting of the Environmental Council of the States. The nine States listed below will receive grants of up to $200,000 to explore innovations related to environmental permitting. The projects, which were selected from a pool of 26 proposals, represent a $1.6 million investment to support innovation by State environmental agencies. The recipients are:
  1. Maine (PDF, 2 pp, 68K)- Implementation of an Automotive Body and Automotive Repair ERP
  2. Vermont (PDF, 2 pp, 51K) - A Cross-Media ERP project for the Retail Gasoline Sales Sector
  3. Rhode Island (PDF, 2 pp, 69K) - Auto Salvage ERP: Improved Compliance and Performance Through Innovation
  4. South Carolina (PDF, 2 pp, 66K) - Incorporating EMSs into Permit Decisions
  5. Minnesota (PDF, 3 pp, 53K) - ERP Applied to Feedlots
  6. Wisconsin (PDF, 2 pp, 49K) - Improved Environmental Results and Increased Regulatory Flexibility in Air Permitting for the Printing Sector Using EMSs and an ERP
  7. Michigan (PDF, 2 pp, 50K)- Michigan Environmental Results Program (MERP) for the Dry Cleaner Sector / Statewide
  8. Indiana (PDF, 3 pp, 63K) - Innovation in Environmental Permitting: EMSs
  9. Wyoming (PDF, 2 pp, 52K) - Watershed-based NPDES Permitting for the Powder River Basin, WY
