EPA Requests Applications for the National Pesticide Information Center Cooperative Agreement

The EPA’s Office of Pesticide Programs is announcing the availability of funds and soliciting applications for a cooperative agreement to support the National Pesticide Information Center (NPIC). Through this longstanding partnership program, a grantee provides objective, science-based information on a wide variety of pesticide-related subjects to anyone within the United States and its territories and supports public health surveillance of pesticide exposures.
What is NPIC?
This program provides an extensive online resource and toll-free telephone service to respond, in multiple languages including English and Spanish, to questions from the general public, the medical and veterinary communities, and other stakeholders. Trained experts in toxicology, environmental health and science, public health, and veterinary medicine respond to questions on topics such as:
- Pesticide product and label information
- Resources on recognition and management of pesticide poisonings
- Interpretation and clarification of toxicology and environmental chemistry information
- Referrals for laboratory analyses, identification of pests, investigation of pesticide incidents, and emergency treatment
- Safety practices
- Health and environmental effects
- Clean-up and disposal
- Regulation of pesticides in the United States
