Pesticide News Story: Endangered Species Day Comes to Washington, D.C.

On Friday, May 20, the Environmental Protection Agency will participate in the Endangered Species Day Fair at the U.S. Botanic Garden by having a booth with our popular Endangered Species Coloring Book and other outreach material that helps educate the public on what EPA does to protect endangered species. Children, families and individuals are invited to participate in tours of the USBG’s endangered and native plants and visit with exhibitors from federal agencies and conservation organizations to learn about endangered plants and what can be done at home to protect them. Talks will include topics such as:
- interaction of pollinators and plants,
- importance of old growth forests for endangered birds,
- use of photography and film to document our planet's endangered plants and animals,
- work of botanical artists to provide a historical record of plants, and
- efforts of youth around the world to protect endangered species through Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots program.
