Pesticide News Story: FIFRA SAP August 25-27, 2009 Meeting

For Release: August 21, 2009

On August 25-27, 2009, the FIFRA Scientific Advisory Panel (SAP) will meet to review and consider the use of quantitative structure-activity relationships, (Q)SAR, of estrogen receptor binding affinity to help guide the prioritization of pesticide inert ingredients and antimicrobial pesticides for endocrine disruptor screening and testing. This FIFRA SAP review will be focused on a QSAR/Rule-Based Expert System that was developed for pesticide inert ingredients and antimicrobial pesticides to help prioritize candidate chemicals for the Tier 1 Endocrine Disruptor Screening Program specific to an estrogen-mediated toxicity pathway. The Agency will be seeking advice from the SAP on various aspects of the SAR/Rule-Based Expert System including transparency of the approach, biological endpoint definition, mechanistic interpretation, and model’s applicability domain.

The meeting will be held at the Conference Center, Lobby Level, One Potomac Yard (South Bldg.) from approximately 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM on August 25th and 26th, and from approximately 9:00 AM to noon on August 27th, if needed. For additional details, please consult the:
