Pesticide News Story: FY 2008 Annual Report on Implementing the Pesticide Registration Improvement Renewal Act (PRIA 2) Available on Web Site

The 2008 annual report on the pesticide registration service fee program is available on EPA’s Web site as required by the Pesticide Registration Improvement Renewal Act (PRIA 2) PRIA 2 also increased the EPA’s reporting requirements. The report includes the following Agency activities to implement PRIA 2:
- Expanded financial reporting for registration, maintenance, inerts, and other set-asides and includes a breakdown of the amount of PRIA fee waivers and exemptions.
- A list of organizations funded with the worker protection and partnership set-asides and their accomplishments.
- Agency efforts to improve and streamline product reregistration and registration review.
- Detailed efforts to improve its science review and assessment processes.
- The Agency’s accomplishments in processing Fast Track Amendments, in meeting required timeframes for antimicrobial products in FIFRA Section 3(h), and in registration review.
- Information on 21-day content screen rejections, PRIA due date extensions, the PRIA actions completed in FY 2008, and the average amount of time that the Agency took to make a decision on a pesticide registration action.
PRIA 2 was effective October 1, 2007. This is the first annual report under PRIA 2. To view the report is available on the Web site.
