For Release: September 16, 2009
On Thursday, October 1, 2009, EPA’s Office of Pesticide Programs will host a meeting of the Pesticide Registration Improvement Renewal Act (PRIA 2) Process Improvement Workgroup, a subgroup of the Agency's Federal Advisory Committee, the PPDC (Pesticide Program Dialogue Committee). The agenda for this meeting is available on the Web site. The meeting will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the lobby-level Conference Center of the Potomac Yard South building, located at 2777 S. Crystal Drive (One Potomac Yard), Arlington, VA. Contact Elizabeth Leovey (leovey.elizabeth@epa.gov) with questions and for instructions on how to participate by teleconference.
Agenda topics include:
- a discussion of recent developments in how impurities in conventional technical products are reviewed,
- the issues with product chemistry data submitted with anti-microbial applications, and
- the results of OPP’s internal label audits.
Participants also will be updated on the activities of the OPP Labeling Committee, inert ingredient reviews, efforts to develop additional electronic application tools, and OPP’s Science Policy Council.
The objective of this workgroup is to identify and evaluate potential reforms to the pesticide registration process. The goal is to reduce the amount of time the Agency takes to process an application under PRIA 2 without compromising the scientific quality of its assessments. This is the 13th meeting of this workgroup. Information on PRIA 2 is available at https://www.epa.gov/pesticides/fees/.
