Pesticide News Story: PPDC PRIA Process Improvement Workgroup to Meet September 23, 2008

For Release: September 16, 2008

On Tuesday, September 23, 2008, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., EPA’s Office of Pesticide Programs will host the eleventh meeting of the Pesticide Program Dialogue Committee (PPDC) PRIA Process Improvement Workgroup. The objective of this workgroup is to identify and evaluate potential reforms to the pesticide registration process. The goal is to reduce the amount of time the Agency takes to process an application under the Pesticide Registration Improvement Renewal Act of 2007 (PRIA 2) without compromising the scientific quality of its assessments.

The meeting agenda focuses on information management: an electronic application tool and enhancements to systems that the Agency uses to monitor work activities and timeliness. The agenda is available on the Web site. The meeting will be in the lobby-level Conference Center of the Potomac Yard South building, located at 2777 S. Crystal Drive (One Potomac Yard), Arlington, Virginia.

An agenda and minutes of past meetings are posted on the PRIA Process Improvement Workgroup Web site. Information on PRIA 2 is available on https://www.epa.gov/pesticides/fees/. Opportunity is available for public comment. Contact Elizabeth Leovey (leovey.elizabeth@epa.gov) with questions.
