Pesticide Worker Safety and Health Conference

EPA is hosting a Pesticide Worker Safety and Health Conference on October 2-4, 2007, at the
Crystal City Hilton,
2399 Jefferson Davis Highway,
Arlington, Virginia.
The conference will be a forum for providing information to federal and state agencies and private sector organizations involved in pesticide worker safety and health programs, policies, and research initiatives.
The conference will highlight the accomplishments of the Agency's worker protection initiatives in partnership with our grantees, including Health Care Providers, the Pesticides Initiative Agricultural Health Study Cohorts, and experts from across the nation who will give presentations and participate in panel discussions during breakout sessions on the following topics:
- "Take-home" pesticide exposure in households of families of farmworkers
- Advances in protective clothing and closed systems equipment
- Education and training of farmworkers and pesticide applicators
- Risk communication strategies and lessons learned
- The role of surveillance for occupational pesticide-related illnesses and injuries
- Worker exposure assessment, and strengths and weaknesses in data collection
- Administrative and policy solutions to better protect the pesticide workforce
