Pesticide News Story: Draft Pesticide Registration Notice on Environmental Hazard Statements for Outdoor Residential Pesticides Available for Public Comment
For Release: October 3, 2007
EPA is making available for public comment a Pesticide Registration Notice (PRN) that provides guidance to registrants on optional environmental hazard label language for certain outdoor residential pesticide products.
The primary purpose of the new environmental hazard statement guidelines is to improve and clarify product labeling for certain residential pesticides. The general approach that the Agency is taking for the statements was recommended by a Pesticide Program Dialogue Committee (PPDC) workgroup. The new statements are intended to replace label language that was originally created for agricultural products, and should facilitate better understanding by consumers of how to use these products in a way that minimizes environmental hazards.
The comment period for the draft PRN begins on October 3, 2007, and closes on November 2, 2007. The draft PRN and comments will be available in Docket ID Number EPA-HQ-OPP-2007-0328 at. The Federal Register Notice of Availability is also available on the Web site.
