Pesticide News Story: Public Meeting on Import Safety

An Interagency Working Group on Import Safety (Working Group) has been established to identify actions the public and private sectors can take to promote the safety of products imported into the United States. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) wants to make its stakeholders aware of an opportunity to comment and participate in a public meeting of this Working Group. The public meeting will be held on October 1, 2007, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Jefferson Auditorium, U.S. Department of Agriculture, 1400 Independence Ave., SW., South Bldg., Washington, DC 20090. Attendance may be in person or by teleconference and comments may be submitted by October 1, 2007. Meeting details are available in the Federal Register Notice. The Working Group, established by Executive Order on July 18, 2007, is chaired by the Department of Health and Human Services' Secretary Michael O. Leavitt, and includes officials from federal agencies including EPA.
