Patricia Holden
Patricia Holden is an Associate Professor of Environmental Microbiology
and Microbial Ecology in the Donald Bren School of Environmental Science
& Management at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her B.S.
and M.S. degrees are in Civil/Environmental Engineering and her Ph.D.
is in Soil Microbiology. Holden is a licensed professional engineer with
eight years of public/private experience in systems design and management.
Holden's academic research is in bacterial biofilms, the chemistry and
physics of extracellular polymeric substances, unsaturated zone microbial
ecology, biodegradation, and bacterial communities as indicators of ecosystem
health and coastal water quality.
