Kristen Fichthorn

Kristen Fichthorn received her B.S. degree at the University of Pennsylvania and her Ph.D at the University of Michigan, both in Chemical Engineering. After a year of postdoctoral experience at the University of California at Santa Barbara, she joined the Chemical Engineering faculty at Penn State in 1990. She is currently the Merrell R. Fenske Chair Professor of Chemical Engineering and is also a Professor of Physics at Penn State.

Professor Fichthorn's research is in the area of atomic-scale simulation of the fluid-solid interface, where she's published about 70 papers. She has been recognized with several research awards, including the NSF PYI, the Penn State Engineering Society's Outstanding Research Award, and an Alexander von Humboldt Research Award.
