November 6 - 7, 2001 "Economic Valuation of Mortality Risk Reduction: Assessing the State of the Art for Policy Applications" was held November 6 and 7, 2001 at the Silver Spring Holiday Inn in Silver Spring, Maryland. This two-day workshop co-sponsored by EPA's National Center for Environmental Economics and National Center for Environmental Research was dedicated to exploring methods for valuing mortality risk reductions. The six sessions - "Current Approaches to Valuing Mortality Risks and Their Limitations," "The Search for Improved VSL Estimates for Use in Policy Analyses," "International Perspectives on Valuing Mortality Risk for Policy ," "Risk Characteristics, " "Population Characteristics," and "Research Frontiers" - presented current economic research and policy discussions concerning each topic.
