The upcoming symposium, “Strengthening Environmental Justice Research and Decision Making: A Symposium on the Science of Disproportionate Environmental Health Impacts,” will focus on the opportunities and evidence base to support consideration of different factors that may contribute to disproportionate environmental health impacts as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other governmental agencies address environmental justice (EJ) in their programs, policies, and regulatory activities. To facilitate common understanding of key issues among symposium participants who come from diverse backgrounds, we are hosting two pre-symposium Webinars. The first Webinar will address the interpretation of racial differences in health disparities and environmental health research, and the second Webinar will provide examples of when and how EJ concerns arise in decision-making and program-implementation contexts at EPA.
