Youth/Education Category - 1st Place: Hurst students work in the rain during an Arbor Day event to plant some huge trees. Students have planted over 2,000 trees since our project started. The trees are planted to replace trees lost to salt water and tropical storms, to extend the habitat for local wildlife, or to beautify and provide shade in public park areas. Most of the trees are donated by the Crescent Soil and Water Conservation District, while experts from Louisiana Ag and Forestry assist the students with choosing the best areas to plant.
