October 8, 1998 MEMORANDUM SUBJECT: Use of Cyclohexanol at DuPont Sabine River Plant, Orange, TX FROM: Ron Josephson, Environmental Engineer Office of Solid Waste, OSW (Note: Office of Solid Waste, OSW, was renamed Office of Resource Conservation and Recovery, ORCR, on January 18, 2009) TO: File Today I spoke with Reed Marton of the DuPont Sabine River Plant, Orange, Texas. I inquired about the use of cyclohexanol at the plant as the Toxics Release Inventory (1995) showed the use code as 3C, ancillary or other use, possibly indicating a solvent use. Mr. Marton told me that the plant makes adipic acid, a nylon intermediate, and that cyclohexanol is not used as a solvent at the facility. A sister plant in Victoria, Texas also uses cyclohexanol, and the use is coded as produced, used for on-site processing, and as a reactant. This memorandum will be placed in the docket to the final solvents listing determination.
