EPA Seeks Nominations for International Advisory Committee

(Dallas, Texas – August 7, 2008) The U.S. delegation of the Joint Advisory Committee (JAC) for the Improvement of Air Quality in the Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua / El Paso, Texas / Doņa Ana County, New Mexico (Paso del Norte) Air Basin is seeking nominations for an open position on the committee. The candidate will represent the industrial sector on the U.S. side of the Paso del Norte region. This is a volunteer position without salary or reimbursement for expenses associated with service. Travel outside the Paso del Norte region is not required.

As JAC co-chair, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is coordinating the nomination and selection process for the U.S. delegation. Self nominations and nominations on behalf of others will be accepted. Those nominated must legally reside in either El Paso, TX or southern Doņa Ana County, NM.

Nominations must contain the name, residence address, mailing address, telephone number, and e-mail address of the candidate. Nominations must also include a brief description of the candidate’s interest, background and experience in air quality matters in the air basin and a brief statement of the positive role the nominee can play on the Committee. Letters of Nomination should be no more than two single-sided typewritten pages. Reference letters from individuals supporting a candidate may be added to a nomination package.

Nominations must be postmarked no later than August 29, 2008. Mail nominations to Joint Advisory Committee, c/o TCEQ - Region 6, 401 E. Franklin Suite 560, El Paso, Texas 79901.
