(Kansas City, Kan., Sept. 13, 2007) - Dr. Carolyn Mahoney, president of Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Mo., will be the keynote speaker at EPA Region 7's celebration of National Historically Black Colleges and Universities Week.

President George W. Bush has issued a proclamation honoring America's Historically Black Colleges and Universities, designating Sept. 9 - 15, 2007, as National HBCU Week.

Dr. Mahoney will speak at the EPA Regional Office Friday, Sept. 14, at 10 a.m. Region 7 will celebrate its partnership with Lincoln University during the event. The partnership, established in 1998, has formalized and strengthened ties between Region 7 and Lincoln University, enhanced educational capabilities and assisted EPA in achieving its mission.

Region 7 also joins Lincoln University in celebrating its many accomplishments and successes and recognizes the valuable contributions of this institution to higher education.
