FY 1996 EPA ENFORCEMENT AND COMPLIANCE ASSURANCE
ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT IS AVAILABLE

The “Fiscal Year 1996 Enforcement and Compliance Assurance Accomplishments
Report” is now available both in hard copy and via the Agency’s Internet
Home Page.  The report provides narrative and aggregate statistical information
on the major enforcement and compliance operations undertaken by EPA during
fiscal year 1996, as well as data tracking a variety of Agency activities
over a multi-year period.  The report includes formal enforcement statistics
for the civil and criminal enforcement programs, as well as summaries of major
civil and criminal cases. It also contains additional information on the Agency’s
priority activities such as:  the Supplemental Environmental Projects (SEP);
environmental justice; place-based and sector-based activity; and compliance
assistance programs such as Project XL and the Environmental Leadership Program.  
The report also also provides data on the impact of enforcement actions on the
environment and public health.  Hard copies of the Report can be obtained by
contacting the EPA’s National Center for Environmental Publications and
Information (NCEPI) at 800-490-9198 and requesting document number
EPA-300-R- 97-003.  It also can be downloaded from the EPA Website at
