NEWS MEDIA ADVISORY

(Kansas City, Kan., March 11, 2011) - EPA Regional Administrator Karl Brooks will host a Regulatory Reform Listening Session on March 15 in Springfield, Mo., at which citizens will be welcomed to submit comments and suggestions for ways the Agency can make its regulatory programs more effective and less burdensome.

The listening session, to be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, at The Library Center, 4653 S. Campbell Ave., in Springfield, is part of the Agency’s fulfillment of Executive Order 13563 issued by President Obama on January 18, 2011.

Through the order, President Obama has directed all federal agencies to facilitate the periodic review of existing significant regulations. The proceedings will be recorded on video and transcribed into permanent record for submission to EPA Headquarters, where they will become part of the Agency’s formal report to the White House.

Through March 20, 2011, citizens are also invited to submit comments online at www.epa.gov/lawsregs/retrospective.
