EPA and LULAC Offer Tree to the Nation's Capital

(Washington, D.C. - July 10, 2008) Following a tradition started at the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) 75th Anniversary Convention, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and LULAC annually participate in a tree planting ceremony at the convention. The planting of the state tree is a gift jointly granted by EPA and LULAC to the host city of the LULAC national convention. This year, EPA and LULAC will dedicate the official tree of the District of Columbia, the Scarlet Oak, at the ceremony tomorrow at this year's LULAC 79th National Convention & Exposition site.
