(San Francisco) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) is seeking applicants for the agency's Sustainable Development Challenge Grant Program, a part of President Clinton's Reinventing Environmental Regulation Initiative.

The grants are intended to encourage community-based projects that integrate environmental protection and community and economic goals, leverage private and public investments to enhance environmental quality and build partnerships to increase communities' long-term capacity to protect the environment.
