U.S. EPA TO HOST PHOENIX CONFERENCE ON CLIMATE CHANGE IN SOUTHWEST

EVENT:  The U.S.Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) will host a one-day          conference in Phoenix, Ariz. on Climate Change: What Does It Mean For The Southwest? The event is cosponsored by 11 other government and business organizations in Arizona and Nevada.  The conference will examine how climate change could affect the economy and environment of the Southwestern U.S., and explore opportunities for businesses and government to benefit from new environmental technologies and voluntary efforts to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases.

WHO:    Speakers include  Felicia Marcus, Regional Administrator, U.S. EPA Region 9,          Ed Fox, Vice President of Arizona Public Service Power Co., speaking on "The Clean Energy Revolution," and Michael Neary, Executive Director of the Arizona Solar Energy Industries Association, as well as scientists and representatives of the U.S. Energy Department and state and local governments in the Southwest.  The conference is designed for business leaders; and state, local, and tribal government officials.  
         
WHEN:   September 24, 1998, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

WHERE:  PHOENIX: The conference will be at the Crowne Plaza North Phoenix @        Metrocenter, at Peoria Ave. and Black Canyon Highway (I-17).
