METHODOLOGY REVISED FOR COSTS OF THE SUPERFUND PROGRAM
EPA has revised its methodology for determining the indirect costs of the Superfund program. The revised methodology, along with existing policies and procedures, now account for the “full costs” of Superfund response. EPA has been including indirect costs in Superfund cost recovery since 1985. However, the indirect cost methodology developed at that time did not allocate all of the indirect costs to activities at sites. The revised methodology was developed in accordance with Federal Financial Accounting Standards and will be applied to cost recovery efforts starting in October 2000. A copy of the revised policy appears in the June 2 Federal Register.
