South Dakota nonprofit organization receives EPA funds for environmental education project

      Denver -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in September awarded a $4,600 grant to help fund The South Dakota Discovery Center.
“Some of the most significant work accomplished in environmental protection happens at the state and local level,” said EPA’s Region 8 Administrator, Robert E. Roberts. “We are pleased to be able to offer this financial assistance to support the worthy and important environmental education projects in the states.”

The Environmental Education Grant Program is sponsored by the EPA's Office of Environmental Education. Since 1992, EPA Region 8 awards about $180,000 each year in grant funding for environmental education programs. Eligible applicants include local education agencies, state education, or environmental agencies, college or universities, Tribal education agencies, not-for-profit organizations and noncommercial educational broadcasting entities.
