EPA REVISES EFFLUENT GUIDELINES SCHEDULE

EPA has modified its effluent guideline schedule to allow additional time on several pending regulations and to consolidate two separate rules on metals and machinery. Effluent guidelines are national rules issued periodically under the Clean Water Act governing industrial discharges into waterways. They are issued to apply to industry catagories and are used by states in permitting individual industrial facilities. Since the first guidelines were issued in l974, EPA has issued standards for 51 industrial categories. The new modified schedule is available on the Internet at: https://www.epa.gov/OST/NEW/eglconsent.html. It also will be published in the Federal Register soon.
