EPA/OSHA REPORT ON CHEMICAL ACCIDENT INVESTIGATIONS

A report “EPA/OSHA Joint Chemical Accident Investigation Program,” that details the efforts underway between EPA and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) on chemical accident investigations is available from EPA’s Chemical Emergency Preparedness and Prevention Office (CEPPO). EPA and OSHA have developed a joint program to investigate major chemical accidents and releases to determine probable causes and contributing factors. Each joint investigation of major accidents generally results in a public report that conveys the findings, conclusions and recommendations to improve chemical safety and prevent future accidents. EPA Administrator Carol M. Browner and Secretary of Labor Alexis M. Herman have sent the report to Congress in support of the joint agency investigation process. For more information, contact CEPPO at 202-260-8600.
