EPA TO HOST TECHNOLOGY VERIFICATION CONFERENCE

BOSTON -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will host a conference Dec. 9 at Hanscom Air Force base in Bedford, Mass. to introduce a new verification program that helps commercialize innovative private sector technologies while supplying objective performance data to the purchasers and permitters of environmental technology.

Through the EPA's Environmental Technology Verification Program, technology buyers and developers, consulting engineers, state regulatory agencies, financiers and the international community are supplied with high quality, objective data through an independent assessment of the performance of new technologies.

The EPA has established 12 technology verification pilot programs covering such issues as drinking water systems, pollution prevention and waste minimization. The agency will six additional pilots covering source water protection, climate change, pollution prevention in the metal finishing industry, advanced monitoring systems, air pollution prevention and control technologies, and wet weather flow.
