WHITMAN AND ROCK TO HOLD PRESS CONFERENCE
ON POPS TREATY AND IMPLEMENTATION

On Thursday, Apr. 11 at 12 noon, EPA Administrator Christie Whitman along with Anthony F. Rock, Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs, will hold a press conference regarding the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs). The Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants was endorsed by President Bush in a Rose Garden Ceremony on April 19, 2001, and signed by Administrator Whitman on behalf of the United States on May 23, 2001.

WHAT: Announcement regarding Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) and two other related treaties.

WHEN: Thursday, Apr. 11 at 12 noon

WHERE: Senate Swamp, located outside of U.S. Capitol Building on east side (across from steps to U.S. Senate).

DIRECTIONS: Please note that this site does not have parking available – Limited off street parking only.

By Metro: Orange/Blue Line to Capitol South Metro Station. Proceed up 1st Street to grounds of U.S. Capitol, proceed to East side of Capitol; or, Red Line to Union Station and proceed up Delaware Ave to East side of Capitol.
