Browner to Discuss President’s Clean Water Action Plan and Draft
Strategy to Curb Polluted Runoff from Animal Feeding Operations

U.S. EPA Administrator Carol M. Browner will join U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman at a National Summit on Animal Waste hosted by U.S. Senator Tom Harkin at the Hart Senate Office Building in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, May 5, at 9 a.m. Browner will give opening remarks on President Clinton’s new Clean Water Action Plan to finish the job of cleaning the nation’s rivers, lakes, and coastal areas -- including the Administration’s draft strategy to curb polluted runoff from animal feeding operations without burdening America’s farmers. Browner will also join Secretary Glickman, Senator Harkin, representatives from the livestock industry, environmental groups, and state and local officials on a panel to discuss common-sense, cost-effective ways to curb runoff from animal feeding operations.
