Longhorn Pipeline Hearing Re-set for Jan. 10 in Austin

Release Date: 12/23/1999
Contact Information: For more information contact the Office of External Affairs at (214) 665-2200.

A second public meeting in Austin on the draft Environmental Assessment and preliminary Finding of No Significant Impact for a proposed petroleum products pipeline has been scheduled by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The pipeline to be operated by Longhorn Partners Pipeline, L.P. could eventually transport up to 225,000 barrels per day of primarily gasoline and distillates from Houston to El Paso, Texas.

On Nov. 16, 1999, a public meeting on this subject in Austin ended because the number of attendees exceeded the capacity of the meeting site. Other meetings in Houston, Fredericksburg, Bastrop and El Paso were conducted as scheduled.

With the rescheduling of the Austin public meeting, the comment period is extended until Friday, Jan. 14, 2000.

Copies of the draft Environmental Assessment and preliminary Finding of No Significant Impact are available for public review at County Clerk Offices in counties along the pipeline route, EPA's regional office, DOT's Houston regional office, and at https://www.epa.gov/earth1r6/6en/xp/longhorn.htm on the EPA web site.
