EPA Administrator To Visit New Hampshire and Massachusetts on Friday

Will Open New Trail in Bedford, NH, Break Ground for Park in Concord, NH and Celebrate Commuter Choice Partner in Andover, MA

EPA Administrator Christie Whitman on Friday will be in New Hampshire and Massachusetts to highlight projects to help protect the environment and restore areas for recreational uses.

In the morning, Whitman will help open the southern portion of the Heritage Trail in Bedford, NH. The new two-mile section expands Bedford’s portion of the trail to four miles. The New Hampshire Heritage Trail will eventually span 230 miles starting at the Massachusetts state line to the Canadian border.

Whitman will also help break ground at Tear Drop Park in Concord, NH located on the west bank of the Merrimack River.

In the afternoon, Whitman will recognize the efforts of new Commuter Choice Leadership Initiative member, Wyeth BioPharma in Andover, MA. The company offers its employees one of most generous sets of commuter benefits in New England, including 100 percent subsidized commuter rail and MBTA passes, free door-to-door shuttle service from employee homes to work in four neighboring towns, and an innovative cross-state express bus from neighboring New Hampshire.

Whitman will also address the New Hampshire Salute to Small Business luncheon.
