EPA AND KEEP AMERICA BEAUTIFUL AWARD $90,000 IN GRANTS

EPA and Keep America Beautiful, under a cooperative agreement, have awarded $90,000 in grants for local recycling initiatives. Fifteen different grants, ranging from $3,000 to $10,000, were awarded to Keep America Beautiful affiliates. The purpose of these grants is to promote increased procurement of recycled goods creating new and larger markets for recycled products. The grants will also focus on recycling, waste reduction and educating the public about the importance of purchasing recycled products to complete the loop of reduce, reuse, recycle. Keep America Beautiful is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to preserving the natural beauty and environment of America and improving waste management practices at the community level. Through its 500 affiliates in 41 states, it is building partnerships with volunteer organizations, government agencies and the private sector to improve the quality of life through education. EPA joined efforts with Keep America Beautiful in 1993 to initiate their first grant with the federal government.
