PORTSMOUTH, Va. – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is inviting community members to attend a public availability session to discuss the possibility of technical assistance grant funds. The availability sessions will be held at the Portsmouth Sheriff’s Training Academy located at 1725 Green Street, behind the new Fire Station on Effingham Street. Residents are encouraged to attend one of the two sessions held at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2002.

EPA’s Technical Assistance Grant (TAG) program provides funds of up to $50,000 to qualified citizens’ groups affected by a Superfund site to hire independent technical advisors to help citizens interpret and comment on site-related information. Since only one grant may be awarded for a site, EPA encourages groups to consolidate
to apply.

For additional information about technical assistance grants please contact Amelia Libertz, TAG Coordinator, or Vance Evans, Community Involvement Coordinator at
